Newcomer Pillowcase and Throw Pillows
Pillows are a great beginner project- and practical too! Whether you’re looking to personalize your pillowcases or update your home decor, the skills you’ll learn and practice making pillows are invaluable in all sewing. You’ll practice basic skills including hems, using buttons, and inserting zippers, and learn different finishes. Pillow shapes choices are: envelope (with or without buttons), zipper, and burrito. Includes an intro to fabrics, such as knits vs. wovens. Directions and a supplies list will be provided after registration.
Supplies:
- Fabric requirements:**
? For a basic zipper pillowcase or envelope pillow = 1-2 yards
? For a burrito method pillow = 3/4 -1 1/4 yard main fabric, 1/2 yard cuff fabric, 1/4 trim fabric
- Buttons or zippers if you will be including them in your design
- Coordinating thread
- Universal 80/12 needle
- Basic sewing tools: sewing machine, rotary cutter and/or sewing scissors, smaller snippers, glass head pins, seam gauge, sewing ruler, preferred fabric marking tool
**Notes: double fabric requirements if you plan to make a matching pair of pillows
