Newcomer Lou Box Top Shirt
Come make a shirt with us! If you've made a few simple items already and are itching for a new adventure, this is a great option. The pattern we'll use is a box top style, so both the fit and the sewing are great for experienced beginners. You'll get to pick from one of three views and two necklines. Together, we'll guide you through laying out and cutting your pattern on the fabric. You'll practice sewing techniques such as seam finishes and understitching. The shirt uses a single back button closure and a bias facing on the neckline, a pocket, and a narrow hem. It's an easy, versatile piece and great as a wardrobe staple.
Supplies:
- Prepared pattern
This class will use a specific PDF pattern. A link to purchase and download the pattern will be provided via email following class sign up. All students must purchase ($14), assemble, and cut the pattern BEFORE class. We will cut the fabric in class. Please double check the pattern instructions on how to print and assemble the paper pattern pieces.
- Sewing machine
- Prewashed fabric- woven fabric only please, check pattern for recommendations
- Thread to match
- Basic tools: sewing ruler, scissors and/or rotary cutter, pins, seam gauge, measuring tape, preferred fabric marking tool
